Launched in June 2019, Amplifund is a philanthropic initiative created by GAY TIMES in partnership with the award-winning LGBTQ+ human rights charity GiveOut that aims to amplify queer voices to global audiences and support LGBTQ+ activists around the world in their campaigning and media work.
The initiative also aims to bring more diverse voices to the forefront of mainstream LGBTQ+ media in the UK and the US, where there is often a lack of understanding of experiences of LGBTQ+ people outside of these contexts. Amplifund is funded by GAY TIMES’ corporate partnerships, subscriptions and individual donations - channelling resources to support queer activism and media, helping to increase the acceptance of LGBTQ+ communities around the world. As of November 2021, entry to all GAY TIMES events include a mandatory donation to Amplifund.
Amplifund supports the following charities:
- IraQueer (Iraq), a non-governmental dedicated to the rights of the Iraqi LGBTQ+ community.
- J-FLAG (Jamaica), leading human rights and social justice organisation working for LGBTQI people in Jamaica.
- Kaleidoscope Trust (International), the Kaleidoscope Trust works to uphold the human rights of LGBTQI people in Commonwealth countries.
- Pink Armenia, an advocacy organisation that raises public awareness about sexual and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS and equal rights for LGBTQI people in Armenia.
